It all started one year ago. With live performances on the Eurosonic and Noorderslag festival in Groningen, LPG could no longer go overlooked in the Dutch music scene. LPG, five Dutchmen in their early twenties, had already been noticed by the critically acclaimed record label Excelsior Recordings, and were on the virge of releasing their debut album 'I fear no foe'. Released in April 2005, the Dutch press welcomed this debut album with open arms, running short of adjectives to describe their enthusiasm for this band. A tour through the Netherlands followed, in which LPG shared the stage with such acts as The Cribs, The Dears, GEM, Voicst and Zita Swoon. The first music video LPG released - a collage of more than 1600 digital photos - cost the band only 14 euros to produce, making it the cheapest music video ever. The talent of LPG did not go overlooked, as Grey Worldwide picked the catchy track Belly Rollercoaster to be used in an international TV campaign for a new series of Nokia mobile phones. With this, the successful debut year of the band seems just to be an indication of what future lies ahead.

LPG is a versatile band, full of ambition. In their songs, you can clearly hear the old legends of the 60s and 70s (Beach Boys, Beatles, Velvet Underground, Neil Young), combined with influences from the more recent indie-scene (Beck, Beta Band, Blur, Pavement, The Shins, Sufjan Stevens), resulting in catchy, polyphonic pop songs full of surprising twists and bends. LPG is also greatly involved in creating their own artwork, merchandize and promotion. The band's motto is 'to accomplish as much as possible by doing as much as possible' for a reason. With performances on Eurosonic, the Nokia commercial and plenty of new songs for a second album it's more than clear that LPG is still to accomplish a lot more than they already have.
