John Thomas (JT) Powers is a songwriter who strives to create a window for the listener to peer through. John's roots are in gospel music but his influences are truly eclectic. Big band, classical, rock and country have all stimulated him and precipitated his diverse writing style. Even though John has been inspired by many, he does not follow. His songs are a reality sometimes funny or sad, rocking or mellow but always devoid of the commercial, mass-produced tripe so often found today. He has been involved with several gospel and rock bands and was a member of the Midwest duo Common Quest that disbanded in 2006. His work has been recorded on numerous CD's, his most recent release being the solo project, All You Can Eat Buffet - 2 HOUR LIMIT which has been warmly received and garnered some local airplay. He is currently working on a second solo album, INCARNATION, scheduled for release in 2007. John and his wife Jan reside in his hometown of Evansville, Indiana and have 5 children and 5 grandchildren. You can read and hear more by visiting John's website. Enjoy your life, it lasts awhile and once. |
