There are not many musicians that can say their music appeals equally to fans of Kid Rock, Nickelback, Collective Soul, Joe Cocker, Blues Traveler, Richard Marx, and the Allman Brothers. JODY RAFFOUL is not your average artist. Not only has he shared the stage with all of these aforementioned acts, JODY was also the National winner of Bon Jovi’s 2006 “Have a Nice Gig” contest, in which he was hand-picked and announced personally by Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora. JODY went on to open a sold out show at Giant’s Stadium in Bon Jovi’s home state of New Jersey. BIG SKY – which is JODY RAFFOUL’s first national U.S. album release, via Fontana/Universal on September 16 - is poised to be his big breakthrough. Fontana North was so enthusiastic once they heard the album that they are now rush releasing the album in Canada on September 30th to support the U.S. album release.
Originally hailing from a small town in Southern Ontario, Canada, RAFFOUL relocated to Detroit, Michigan where he perfected an equal parts roots rock and pop sound that easily appeals to fans of both musical styles. JODY is a confirmed road dog, averaging over 200 shows per year. Previous albums include 2000’s Simple Life and 2004’s Like A Star; which have sold collectively in excess of 25,000 from live show sales alone and have set the stage for BIG SKY’s U.S. album release. BIG SKY is over an hour long, loaded with melodic and memorable tunes, including the album’s leadoff single, “Stay (with me),” a track which combines an infectious beat with lyrics that deal with newfound love, the beautiful ballad “Little Black Car,” and the rhythmic album opener, “Chasing Paper.”
JODY RAFFOUL’s profile is increasing rapidly. He is the current featured “Artist On The Rise” for the month of September on Windows Media.com. The Ecast Network is already supporting BIG SKY as a “Featured Pre-Release” to the Network and Touch Tunes jukeboxes will also be supporting BIG SKY starting September 16th.
The new video for “Stay (with me)” features a special guest appearance from drummer Ryan Hoyle of Collective Soul and was produced/directed/edited by Robin Davey (Buckcherry, Drowning Pool, The Bastard Fairies, The Canary Effect).
The early accolades for BIG SKY have already begun to pour in. “BIG SKY is the long forgotten sound of a great rock record. What a pleasure to listen to, let alone mix,” says the album senior mix engineer Al Sutton (Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow). “BIG SKY is rock in its purest form - uncut, un-stepped on, with sincerity, power and tremendous skill,” adds the album senior mastering engineer Greg Calbi (John Mayer, U2, Bob Dylan, Once Soundtrack, and Flight of the Conchords).
On Tuesday, September 23rd, JODY RAFFOUL can be seen on WJBK Fox 2 Detroit Morning Show in the
8:00 am hour with a live performance and interview. Later at 6:30pm JODY will be making an in-store appearance at the FYE in the Macomb Mall Shopping Center (located at 32233 Gratiot Avenue, Roseville, MI 48066-1147), where he will be signing BIG SKY and performing live. The official BIG SKY CD release party will be held on Thursday, September 25th at 7:00pm at Fifth Avenue in Royal Oak, MI. Admission to this show is by purchasing a copy of BIG SKY at any one of nine participating FYE stores in the local Detroit metro area. A special ‘ticket’ will be printed on the receipt with purchase.
It’s apparent that JODY’s career is about to take off. Any true music lover will not be disappointed with BIG SKY. It’s an album worth the price. |
