Friends Of Ron began as an acoustic duo in mid-2004 at their local high school in Tasmania, being Rob and Luke the two human beings that made up this duo, thus 2 resulting in a duo. They soon employed their buddy Pickle on the drums to create a rock 'n roll phenomenon. They did, however continue to perform acoustically, most noteably at the 2004 Rock Challenge. They even got paid to play once! Anyways, after Rob and Luke stopped playing "Beer" on their acoustics, people began to think the band was shit. This did not phase the boys and they continued with their quest to bring their music to the world. The announced a hiatus at the end of 2004 to gather their thoughts but made a return in mid 2005 to unless their debut EP - "Sam's Birthday" on the world. The EP received critical accliam worldwide and sold extremely well in their home town of Hobart, in fact they wold out all 18 copies of the original pressing, then 13 more of the "special edition" pressing! Anyway the EP contained 4 songs - The Ballad Of Sam Sweetten, Beetle Tribute, A Song About A Gay Jock and a cover of Weezer's Say It Ain't So. The EP is available for $2 and if you're really lucky the boys well press one for you. The guys plan to continue their world domination in 2006 with proposed tours of Iraq, Palestine and the Arctic Circle, so if you're from one of these places, looks like you're in for a treat.
